Carol Caywood, Georgia Market President presented Habitat for Humanity Pickens County GA a check for $10,000.00 earmarked for their building fund, accepting on behalf of Habitat is President Steve Greenwell. Greenwell stated, Habitat is most grateful for such support from the local community it is generous donations such as Stearns that allows us to sustain our mission of eliminating poverty housing in Pickens County. Currently, home number 16 is in its final stages of construction, with closing set for mid-March. This home is located in New Hope Acres which is a 10 acres development within the county that will allow for the construction of seven (7) homes over the next few years. Additionally, Habitat owns an adjacent 10 acres which is currently undeveloped and will hopefully provide another 7 or 8 family homes.
