Yesterday June 19th the documents that we have so been longing for are complete and recorded with the Clerk of the Court. Of course I am talking about the Final Plat, the heretofore elusive piece of paper that allows us to apply for building permits for our next seven homes. With the Plat in hand we can now go forward with the thing that we do best build homes.
During the past few weeks the construction committee has been in talks with the next family so as to better plan their needs and our ability to fulfil those needs. Our architect, while recovering from knee surgery, has developed a floor plan that comports with the Habitat model and meets the families’ desires.
Going forward, it is hoped that during the upcoming week (June 22-26) we will be able to obtain a building permit, and start the process of building home #16.
There are many people to thank for their efforts in this venture, but most of all I want to thank our loyal supporters for their patience and continued interest in our mission of building simple, decent affordable housing in partnership with God and God’s people in need.
We look forward to seeing all our longstanding and new volunteers on the job site. We, members of the board, are excited to start this new episode in the history of Habitat for Humanity – Pickens Count and hope that you will join us in our excitement.
